The writing directing team of Allen and Albert Hughes delivered powerful and distinctive, if flawed, work with Dead Presidents and Menace II Society.
Since then they’ve done From Hell with Johnny Depp and some TV work, as well as being involved in New York, I Love You, but they haven’t really had their own feature since 2001’s Hell.
Cast of Book of Eli
They seem set for a comeback with Book of Eli. A postapocalyptic story of a man (Denzel Washington) fighting his way across America to protect a book that could save mankind.
Variety reported monday Ray Stevenson (starring in the new Punisher) has joined the cast, which also includes Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight), and Mila Kunis (Max Payne).
That’s a hell of a cast.
Here’s hoping the Hughes brothers can make a comeback, we can never have enough distinctive directors making big pictures.
